I think art is a force of nature. It craves to exist. It speaks to everyone in all walks of life and from every corner of the world. To some it sings, “see me”, to others it screams, “create me!” I paint for self expression, for people who might have heard the first voice and because I definitely hear the second.
“If art imitates life, and imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then )given that we flatter when we want something, be it a favor or simply to make the target of our flattery happy) art, is our offing to lie, sometimes incur favor, other times to simply show we are grateful. Our prayer, our petition to existence itself. Sacrificing a portion of our own existence, time, to the grater of which we are all a part. It is my considered option, therefore, that art is a spiritual act that has the power to circumvent all barriers of language, religion, theology, social convention and perhaps event time itself.”– Aaron Mandelbaum
